'Fascinated by the drama and transience of changing light'
I am honoured to be included with a small number of artists representing Scotland at the convention of watercolour artists in FabrianoInAcquerello, Italy.
I specialise in watercolour painting and especially enjoying landscapes, moorland and seascapes. I am directly inspired by changing shapes and bursts of colour, scents and changing light.
I work towards my painting being alive so many of the paintings are started ‘en plein air.’ Sometimes I don’t know how the painting will turn out as the changes in light can excite a memory and take me of down a different path.
My eyes dart across the landscape looking for the changes in light in the sky, on the horizon and the land. I often only have seconds to identify what connects me to the world that I see and the world that has been.
Sometimes I use my sketches and memories of the place and work back in the studio.
